More of the Good Man

I've been given a metal cylindrical case within which to place my Good Man blood bottle for the Caseroom Press Merzbox exhibition, so i've been trying to create a wrap to cover the existing case design. This is my attempt so far- I also need to create a small spherical cover to place on top of the lid. The design will be printed out on paper and then stuck onto the case.

Typography

Here, I've added extra elements to my typography based piece to try and reduce the impact of the negative space within the image and make it seem more 'full'. It's a definite improvement on the first piece but perhaps still needs some more work- any suggestions?

Modified Fish

After much modifying, here is my revised double page spread design (with opening third page) for a children's book based on the short MERZ story 'The Fish and the Ship's Propeller'.

Pages 1 and 2

Page 2 opens out to reveal the fish escaping from the net (3 pages wide)

More MERZ

Typographic based piece illustrating a line from the MERZ story 'Fish and Man'. Still not quite resolved- too much background?

Typography

I've decided to create a series of 2 or 3 typography based pieces as part of my negotiated project, each based upon an extract from one of Kurt Schwitters Merz fairytales. This is my first attempt, and it still needs a lot of tweaking but it's been good fun. I'm a little unsure of what medium to use at the moment- probably digitally collaging painted sheets of paper, but I'd also like to create an entirely lino based piece for one of my other type outcomes.

New Bottle

Work in progress...

I'm working on a double page spread spread for a children's book (with a pull out page) as part of my negotiated project. The spread is based upon the short MERZ story 'The Fish and the Ship's Propeller' by Kurt Schwitters. I'm working with the line "and the net tore open, allowing all the fish to swim through the hole".

MERZ

I've made a few alterations to the back label of my Good Man bottle. One version uses the same grid-like mosquito pattern but turned diagonally and the second is a completely random pattern. I personally prefer the random mosquitoes...but what do you think? Suggestions welcome!
